Another great week of trout fishing on Shasta Lake is in the books. Brown and Rainbow Trout in the 2 to 5 pound class continue feed heavily on the shad making for some pretty hot fishing. Double digit fish days have been the norm so if you choose to keep some of these beautiful eating Trout there are plenty to fill your cooler.

The fish are pretty deep (65 to 95 feet) and optimizer jr spoons lathered in threadfin shad gel trolled between 2 an 3 mph were the hot bait this week. Fishing will continue to be good at the deeper depths, until the lake begins to cool down, but for now deep is making for some hot fishing.
