Shasta Lake fishing has been excellent and most of our bites have been coming from 60'-70' deep.  I'm trolling traditional trout gear at the aforementioned depths at around 2.0-2.2 mph.  Water temps and conditions have changed only slightly since Julys report.  The catch contains mainly rainbows and brown trout with the occasional incidental bass.  The salmon fishing has been poor so I havent been spending a lot of time targeting them specifically.  Overall we're having great trips every day now and the quality of the trout has been exceptional.  I'll be looking forward to fishing the remainder of the summer season on Shasta Lake this year!  With river salmon closed this year in California, we have plenty of available dates in August-December now.  This is a great year to take advantage of this extended Lake season we are having now due to the river salmon closures.
