Shasta Lake salmon and trout report!

Shasta Lake is closing in on the big upturn in the bite for both salmon and trout on Shasta Lake. We're still lagging a bit behind but I believe its due to the lack of Shad in the lower lake. Its a temproary situation and the trout and salmon are still around the main body areas we are fishing for them. Productive areas have been the Sacramento Arm and the Digger Bay area especially for salmon. Dry Creek hasn't fished well for me in weeks but its a great spot for summer Kings on the lake when they finally come around. There are some fish down deep but I've been targeting the 35'-45' range for most of my bites. The water temps down there are around 63 degrees as of today. That seems to be the feeding zone temps for trout and salmon in shasta. They'll hold down deep a lot of the time but best of luck to you on getting very many bites down there. Solo spoons, flasher combo's, and dodger hoochie presentations have worked for me this week. Side planers, divers, and downriggers are all taking fish. The trout and salmon are chasing baits again so don't be afraid to bump up your trolling speeds if you're not getting bites. That being said, Ive been getting most of my bites with the gear I'm running at 2.0-2.2 mph. That includes Kings and Kokanee. Crowd's have been light so fishing pressure is down especially in the morning. I have a few available dates remaining in June and July and Jaynie has some permitted boats available for Shasta Lake as well. Call (530) 510-2925 for more info regarding our Shasta Lake fishing trips! Thank you!
