Time for Shasta Lake King's!

We're seeing King salmon in the mix every day now and they are in fantastic shape! We're starting to see more 2-3 year old salmon and its just a matter of time now before we start seeing some 4 year old's coming to the net. There's no doubt that the Shasta Lake Kings are the hardest fighters in the lake. These silver bullets head shake and make hard runs all the way to the net! I've been finding them at 40-50' feet deep and we're using some fairly standard gear to get them to bite. 8" Pro-Troll flashers and Kokanee Cut Plugs are taking most of the kings right now. Don't forget to add some Pautzke Bait Co. Fire Gel to the cut plugs. I like the anchovy or herring Pautzke gel scent the best for salmon, but garlic has earned a spot on the roster as well. Mid June brings the start of the best King salmon of the season, so that means it's GO TIME NOW! Late June through August will normally be the best time to fish for Shasta Kings and I don't expect this year will be any different, except its likely to be better this year than it has been in several years. Tight lines, and thank you for following our reports here on NCFR.
