I won't say Shasta Lake is fishing like it does in July and August, but we're coming into mid June with some really great salmon and trout. Today we had a good morning bite and put some quality fish in the net the first few hours of the day, but we managed to pick off a few later in the morning as well. After the bite had slowed down, we had some long passes without a bite, but two other boats I had been talking to were on the same page. Still a great day of fishing and our clients went home with some great fish for the bbq. We got three Kings yesterday and four today giving us a sign that the Kings are ready to turn on for summer. We managed to get into a few Kokanee, and at least three browns as well. We broke off a few bigger fish including a really nice King salmon. The salmon and trout are feeding well on Shad and Bluegill and many of them have some pretty fay bellies on them. There are definitely some big trout and salmon swimming in Shasta again this year. There's plenty of water in Shasta and we'll be fishing for trout and salmon through August this summer before breaking away for a two month long river salmon season. If you want to fish Shasta Lake in July or August, now is the time to give us a call to set up your date(s). Thank you!
