Full moon browns today!

Shasta Lake was a beast today and tackling the high winds on the McCloud arm today was no small feat! Add the morning after a full moon and we had our work cut out for us for sure. The morning was tough, but we got two small browns pretty quick before the bass bite took over and had us reeling up lines fouled with Spotted bass. By mid day the wind settled down a bit and we were able to get some lines straight behind the boat. The bass were chomping spoons on side planers so they didnt see any trout action all day. We hit the two big browns pictured on downriggers at 20-30' feet down. Brad's Super Baits and a Shad rolled with 100' setbacks took the biggest fish of the day. Lots of browns all over the lake right now for sure and now is the time to get after them. Surface temps are going to rise sharply in the weeks ahead and that will change the patterns we're seeing right now for sure. Winds have stirred up the lake a bit so now is the time to take advantage of the stained water bite!
