Shasta Lake trout season looking good!

Shasta Lake is in great shape and fishing has been pretty good for this tie of the year.  We're looking for bigger trout right now, and we're finding more than normal already this year.  We're not talking non stop action, in fact its quite the opposite, but its qualiy over quantity this time of the year.  When the bite is good though, we have seen 14-15 trout days with some of them coming in at 5 lbs. or better.  As the weather systems flatten out and we get a steady barometer, we should see a more consistent bite in the weeks ahead.  Browns are at the forefront of our efforts right now, but we are seeing some rainbows and a few salmon in the mix each day we fish.  By May, we'll still be catching some nice browns, but we should see the scales tip towards the rainbows and salmon in the lake. By June we'll be catching lots of trout and some good numbers of salmon each day.  There's a lot of chatter about low lake levels on Shasta this year, but its not going to affect the fishing.  Even if the lake drops another 100', there will be miles and miles of water over 200' deep to fish in. Plan your family vacations, rent a house boat, camp or RV on Shasta Lake, and be sure to include a day of fishing with us when you come up this summer!  Thank you!
