The Sacramento River is low and flows are dropping again next week. There are salmon spawning in the riffles throughout the Redding area and thats where you'll find the steelhead/trout. Egg presentations like beads or Glo Bugs are productive this time of the year, but be prepared to have your baits dialed in. The river water is very clear and the trout are easily spooked, especially by the power boats. Find the salmon redds though, and you'll find feeding trout. This fishery would see a big improvement as well with some more rainwater filling tributaries coming into the system. For those of you out there that want to get into some good trout fishing right now, I'd start talking to some fly fishing guides/outfitters as the trout fishing will hold up quite well until we see our first winter storm sometime in December.
