Big winds tame Shasta bite!

Big winds today made it tough to efficiently present our gear on Shasta Lake today. Early success has been the key to filling the coolers with fresh trout. We have a heat wave coming on Friday and its gonna be a triple digits weather pattern for several days in a row. We could benefit from some hot weather as it will get this thermocline in Shasta Lake off to a good start. Water temps have been up and down all spring making for some good, but spotty fishig at times. By the end of June we should be cranking up limits of trout and salmon just about every day. Right now, the best fishing is coming from the 35'-40' depths trolling Trinidad Tackle Popped Eye spoons with or with out the 6" gold dodgers. The Shad should be showing up very soon so dodger spoon combos will be very effective when they do arrive in the main body of the lake. Another hot bait is the Brad's Kokanee Cut Plugs trolled alone or with a Brad's UV dodger. Tight Lines!
