Shasta Lake pre summer fishing!

We caught a break on the hot weather the past few days and survived a really wet day before that. Today was calm, but started out rather cool making for some comfortable conditions on the water. Captain Justin had another group out today and put some great rainbows and a few browns in the box. The bites can come slow some days, but usually after a full day theres an impressive pile of fillets to be laid out by days end. Reports of some possible Shad schools in the lower lake is a great sign for the coming weeks on the lake. Shasta Lake will break wide open within a few weeks and it should remain really good through summer into early fall. The trout are still hanging out in the upper levels of the lake and going deep for them just isnt necessary. With temps already in the mid 70's, a prolonged hot weather period will surely establish a thermocline making finding the trout and salmon all the easier. Thank you!
