Captain Justin Thompson checked in today and says the Sacramento River in Redding is flowing at 9,750 cfs and the trout fishing is really good. Lots of clean water and lots of salmon in the river has the trout chewing on egg patterns and even bug patterns for the fly guys. We're seeing pods of trout holding in the tailouts and in the shallow riffles consistently. Some of the deeper water has been holding some of the bigger trout lately as well. Keeping the boats off the fish has been very helpful in getting bites in the clear water. This fishery will just continue to build throughout the summer and will be amazing for the August 1st opener above the SR 44 bridge in Redding. This fishery is very healthy and catching 20, 30, even 40 trout in a single day is possible just about any day during the summer months. Thank you!
