Summer weather brings up water temps on the Sac!

I jumped in with Captain Justin and a few friends today on the Sacramento River near Colusa, Ca. The morning started out great and we were into some Striped bass bites pretty much right away. We even tied onto a big Striper that ran off a bunch of line and ended up breaking off in a log jam along the shoreline. Always tough to lose a big fish but we recovered quickly. We got into several more Stripers throughout the morning but saw the bite drop off later in the morning. By mid day we had limits of Striped bass for the crew and as temps hit 90 degrees, we decided to call it a day. The river water temps are hovering around 67 degrees and some spawning Stripers were spotted along a sandy shoal just before heading in. Striped bass fishing has been good overall, but we're seeing both full Stripers and Stripers that have already spawned. With hot weather and low water, I'm sure we'll see the same pattern through the end of May. Our Striper trip calendar is limited in May, but there are still some available dates to fish for those of you that havent had a chance to get out on the water to chase Striped bass yet. Thank you!
