Today I fished the Sacramento River below Balls Ferry in Anderson with a small group of 3 anglers.  We hooked 4 salmon and a steelhead during the trip which offered a slow bite until late morning.  The best part of the trip was being able to guide Harry onto his first ever King salmon.  He hooked and landed the beautiful hen perfectly.  Harry is 81 years old and it was a true priviledge to be a part of his fishing experience today on the Sacramento River.

On a side note, we saw several chrome Kings rolling in the Barge Hole today.  That being said, it looks like our late fall Kings are starting to show.  This run of Kings is smaller in numbers, but these fish are generally bright kings and are a very good quality eating salmon.    We will also start to see good numbers of hatchery steelhead in the Anderson area as well.  Best of all is the very light fishing pressure we see this time of the year.  Salmon season ends December 16th.
