Boom or bust on the Sac River!

If the full moon and a wet weather pattern doesn't kick this years salmon season into high gear, well, its just going to be what it has been. We've caught some great fish and had some great days on the Sacramento River this year salmon fishing, but with big return numbers estimated to return to the Sacramento River to spawn or be spawned ay Coleman Hatchery, the fishing should be quite good daily. Every body of water I've fished this year has been behind schedule as far as productivity, and it appears the Sac is experiencing the same. Thats ok, we still have nearly 3 months of salmon fishing ahead and loys of fishing to do. We've seen a lot of salmon in the 20+ pound range already this year. We've already caught more 20+ pound Kings this season than the last two full seasns combined. The good news is, theres a lot of 3 yr olds this yeat in the Sac and Kings in the 30-40 pound range will surely be caught this season. CDFW biologists on the water have already weighed a big King that was 33 lbs. October is the Barge Hole month below Coleman Hatchery and we will see some of the biggest salmon of the year caught by anglers fishing that area of the river. I think this season has had a slow start, but it should break wide open this week! If you're still pondering a trip for King salmon, let me say that this is not a year you want to miss! Call Jaynie at our reservation office at (530) 510-2925 to book a day of fishing with one of our USCG Captains and licensed fishing guides.
