Justin Thompson fished the Sacramento River today looking for a good bite for his two clients.  They caught some really nice rainbows drifting egg patterns through the deeper sections of the Sacramento River below the SR 44 bridge.  A lot of the rainbows are post spawn now and resting in the slower sections of the river, waiting to recover.  These rainbows don't all spawn at the same time, so there are still plenty of fat, hardy trout out there to keep therod bending action alive.  It looks like the next week is going to be our first heat wave of the year and that make fishing the cool waters of the Sacramento River even more desirable.
