Shasta Lake is warming up quick!  The surface temps have pushed over the 70 degree mark, but temps are still a sturdy 55 degrees at the 20' mark.  The trout are swirling on the surface slurping up Carpenter ants and gorging on the plankton blooms.  The lake is on a steady rise which means there is more and more wood debris piling up in the lake.  Its sort of a pain to fish in, but until Shasta starts to drop again, we're stuck with it.  The browns are still looking for food in open water, but are biting baits trolled closer to shore as well.  Fishig in the 10' range is still producing bites.  The Shad should start their migration down to the main body soon and that will pull some more trout down as well.  This is a transition time for the lake and the bite can be a little slow at times, but we are still getting into some quality fish!
