Shasta Lake trophy browns!

Today was a brown trout fishing trip with Matt and Tom on Shasta Lake. We got 4 bites, 2 landed and two didnt stick. Any day we get 4 chances at trophy browns is a good day in my book. Of course we love the 6 or 8 brown trout days, but those days are rare and all the stars have to align to experience that kind of fishing with these smart, weary beasts of the deep. Trinidad Tackle Optimizer spoons dominated the day and all our bites were on the Optimizers in black or blue/white. Side planers and a few downriggers rounded out or spread and 3.8 mph was our trolling speed we ran all day. We caught a beautiful 8 lb brown at 11:00 and a 6 lb. brown at 1:00 before calling it a day. Conditions were poor considering we battled a stiff north wind and some heavy chop. The sunlight was unfiltered and we're still in a big moon phase. All things considered, we did what we set out to do and thats all that matters! Congrats to Matt from Chico for landing his two biggest browns ever on the same day!
