12\15\18 - The Klamath was on fire today, my client Kerry caught and released 20 fish on everything he put in water.
Hungry Steelhead and even a rare Klamath Coho Salmon bit our baits. Plugs, flies and bait all worked today. Casting and back trolling bait and plugs as well as Ham an Eggs under the indicator all caught hard fighting Klamath Steelhead. Kerry even caught an released a nice 8 pound Coho while side casting a rapala. It did not seem to matter as we made our way down the river but I'd have to say the Maglip 3.0 took best bait honors.
The Maglip caught the biggest and most fish on the day. The Steelhead really seemed to be all over that plug, slamming bites, ripping drag and jumping out of river every time we out it. Pro-Cure Carpspit was the scent of the day as well. Never hurt to lather up the plugs. Watch the VIDEO and you'll get the idea how good the fishing on the Klamath is.
Don't let the Winter weather scare you off this is the time of the year when the biggest Steelhead the Klamath has to offer are here. Fish between 20 and 30 inches are common and can reach 10 pounds. Last December, one of my clients caught and released a 29 inch 10 pound piggy. Yesterday, Kerry's biggest was 22 inches and 5 pounds.
Christmas is almost here and if you're still thinking about that right gift, I have the best stocking stuffer fishing trip gift certificate ready to go.
