I had a half day trip last night on Shasta Lake.  It was smokey, hot, and quite humid with little to no wind.  Less than perfect conditions, but we still ended up fishing for and catching some great trout.  Shasta is teeming with bait and fish can be seen everywhere gorging themsalves on the shad that are balled up just about everywhere in the main lake right now.  Yes, there are some fires in the area, but we deal with them every year.  The only ssue for Shasta right now is the smoke, but that can all change overnight with a little wind in the right direction.  Shasta is going to be the best fishing venue in terms of both numbers and possession limits.  I'll be fishing Shasta non stop until September when I'll start to run some of my river salmon trips.  I'll be fishing hard until mid October so if you're looking for a great day on the water between now and then, please feel free to contact me to set up your day(s) of fishing!
