Today was the 2020 Sacramento River King salmon season opener below Red Bluff Ca.  We started our day early and got to our starting hole just before legal fishing time.  The start time of 4:54 am came and went before we dropped lines in the water at about 5:15 am.  All four of us dropped in and before I could set my free spool lever in my Shimano reel in the locked position I felt the thump, thump, thump of a big King that had grabbed my Brad's KF-15 just has it hit bottom.  The fight was on before we could rely on daylight to fight this big King to the net, but just a few minutes later we had him in the in the boat.  That set the pace for the morning and we quickly had 5 King salmon in the boat and had lost another 4 Kings fighting them to the boat.  There were a lot of boats out this morning, but with all the hype about this years King salmon season on the Sacramento River, its to be expected.  Our second boat had 3 Kings in the box as we headed in at about 10:00 this morning and Captain Jeff Brady reported there were lots of Kings caught where he had been fishing up river from where we started.  Its going to be a great year for King salmon fishing on the Sacramento River  and this seasons opener was a great indication of whats to come.  Both Justin and I are booked solid in September, but we have a few dates in late August and in October.  Captain Kenny Turner and Captain Jeff Brady are more than half full in September but also have dates available in August and October.  Now that the season is open and we're catching salmon, the remainder of our schedule will likely fill before mid August.  Call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 to book your trip!  Thank you!
